Moreover, the timing was just too coincidental. It happened to arrive right when I went downstairs to pick up a package... Could that person be in our company? I shivered and quickly pushed that thought out of my mind.
Finally, after a long day, I rushed downstairs, eager to find my classmate who was a police officer, Qin Qin. I took photos of the Curse Letter and the Needle Doll I received today and sent them to her, explaining everything that had happened.
Qin Qin was furious and cursed, "Is this even human?!"
"Calm down for a moment," I said, rubbing my temples. "I want to handle this myself."
"Just let me know if you need my help," Qin Qin replied, sending a handshake emoji.
I smiled gratefully at her.
I was currently leading a project involving multiple departments, which included compliance review. The person sent by the Compliance Department was Lin Jinping. She was nearly forty, a big sister figure, and reportedly a relative of some vice president. She had a long-term personnel contract and was one of the laziest employees in the Compliance Department.
I felt a headache coming on. I knew her professional skills were lacking, and she didn't get along well with other employees; otherwise, she wouldn't be hanging around with nothing to do, looking for faults in our project team.
This project was already busy enough; I simply didn't have the energy to deal with her. Moreover, Party A was pushing us hard.
I rubbed my temples again and asked our intern, Xiao An, to help Lin Jinping get familiar with the project. Xiao An was a recent graduate, cheerful and able to get along with anyone.
With her presence, I felt a bit more at ease about Lin Jinping. However, in the afternoon, I received a complaint from Xiao An.
"Sister Ma Hui, what's up with Lin? I gave her a particularly simple proposal to review, and she managed to nitpick every little detail."
"And after she pointed out the issues, she didn't even tell me what was wrong—just sent me back to redo it..." Xiao An pouted, looking quite displeased. "Is she going through menopause or something?"
I couldn't help but chuckle and gently patted Xiao An's shoulder in comfort. Lin Jinping was indeed a bit eccentric; it wasn't just Xiao An who found her unbearable—no one in the entire project team liked her.
After work, I went with a few colleagues to a restaurant across from the mall for dinner. To my surprise, I spotted Lin Jinping and... Gao Qing. They were seated by the window, chatting and laughing heartily about something.
I was so shocked that I dropped my phone. The intern, Xiao An, quickly picked it up for me and blew off the dust. "Sister Ma Hui, how can you be so careless?"
Following my gaze, she saw Gao Qing and Lin Jinping and her eyes widened in disbelief. "This..." Xiao An instinctively took out her phone. "Sister Ma Hui, let me take a picture for you."
I pressed my lips together and grabbed her hand. "No need."
Xiao An looked at me in confusion. "Sister Ma Hui, don't be scared; I can record a video as proof."
I shook my head and remained silent.
I never expected that Gao Qing was actually having an affair with Lin Jinping. No wonder he hurriedly came to me last time, saying his wife had already scolded me and that I shouldn't stoop to her level. It turns out his wife and her lover were in cahoots.
I sneered as I watched Gao Qing and Lin Jinping leave the restaurant, all lovey-dovey. Fortunately, the project had concluded, and our results had pleased Party A immensely. The speed of the remittance was a clear indicator of that.
With some rare free time on my hands, I logged into my old Sina email account. Previously, I had received a Curse Letter from someone who claimed they would continue to curse me. I thought it was just some bored prankster and didn't take it seriously. However, when I opened my inbox, over forty unread emails popped up. Aside from two relatively normal emails, the rest were all Curse Letters.
