Chapter Three
“Energy Fluctuation?” I repeated Odyssey's words, a sense of unease settling in my chest.
“Yes, it’s just ahead,” Odyssey's voice sounded tense. “The Energy Fluctuation is very strong. I suspect…”
“Suspect what?” I pressed for more information.
“I suspect it’s some kind of powerful creature,” Odyssey replied, his tone growing more serious. “We need to be cautious.”
I swallowed hard, gripping the lighter tightly in my hand.
Though I had no idea what the Energy Fluctuation was, Odyssey's anxiety made me feel the weight of danger looming ahead.
“What should we do?” I asked.
“Let’s get closer and take a look,” Odyssey suggested. “Remember, we must be careful.”
I nodded and slowly drove the Balance Bike forward.
As we approached, the Energy Fluctuation intensified, and I could feel my heart racing faster.
Suddenly, I spotted a dense forest ahead.
A thin mist enveloped the trees, obscuring what lay within.
“This is it,” Odyssey said. “The Energy Fluctuation is emanating from here.”
Taking a deep breath, I steered the Balance Bike into the forest.
The forest was eerily quiet, with only the sound of the Balance Bike moving through the stillness.
I carefully scanned my surroundings, fearing that danger might suddenly appear.
“Odyssey, do you sense anything?” I whispered.
“Nothing,” Odyssey replied. “It’s too quiet here, too quiet.”
Odyssey’s words made me feel even more uneasy.
This strange silence only heightened my sense of danger.
Suddenly, I heard a rustling sound coming from ahead.
I quickly stopped the Balance Bike and turned my attention to the source of the noise.
A shadow darted out from the trees, moving at an astonishing speed.
Before I could make out what it was, I felt the Balance Bike jolt violently.
I quickly steadied myself and realized that something had punctured the tires of the Balance Bike.
“What’s happening?” I exclaimed in shock.
“It’s Money-Sucking Grass,” Odyssey’s voice echoed in my mind. “A plant that specifically drains metal energy.”
“Money-Sucking Grass?” I paused for a moment. “What should we do?”
"Run!" Odyssey shouted, "The Money-Sucking Grass will drain the energy from the Balance Bike; we need to get out of here quickly!"
I hurriedly jumped off the Balance Bike and ran deeper into the forest.
The Money-Sucking Grass was fast, and I found myself struggling more and more to keep up.
"I can't run anymore," I gasped.
"Hang in there," Odyssey encouraged, "We're almost there."
"Almost where?" I asked.
"To a safe place," Odyssey replied, "There's a water source and food; we can rest there for a bit."
I gritted my teeth and pushed myself to keep running.
Finally, I spotted a clearing ahead.
In the clearing was a small stream, its water crystal clear.
I rushed to the edge of the stream and drank deeply.
After quenching my thirst, I felt my strength returning somewhat.
"Odyssey, are we safe now?" I asked.
"For now, yes," Odyssey answered. "The Money-Sucking Grass has a limited range; they won't follow us here."
I let out a sigh of relief and slumped to the ground.
"What do we do next?" I asked.
"First, let's take a break," Odyssey replied, "then we can continue gathering the resources needed for the task."
I nodded and closed my eyes to rest.
Although I was exhausted, I knew I couldn't stay here for too long.
I had to complete the task as soon as possible and return to the real world.
"Odyssey," I opened my eyes and asked, "what other resources do we need to collect?"
"We need Orc Fur, Iron-Eating Beast Cub Milk, and Tianzhu Peak Ore," Odyssey answered.
"Where can we find these items?" I inquired.
"We've already collected the Orc Fur," Odyssey said. "The Iron-Eating Beast Cub Milk needs to be found in the Iron-Eating Beast's den, and the Tianzhu Peak Ore must be gathered from Tianzhu Peak."
"Where are the Iron-Eating Beast's den and Tianzhu Peak?" I pressed on.
"According to my calculations... they are deeper within this forest..." Odyssey's voice gradually lowered, as if the signal was being disrupted. "Zzzz... zzz... Do you see that tallest peak? That is..."
