My father started his career in foreign trade and got to know many people along the way. Later, he teamed up with Lao Ma and his own daughter to start a business, establishing a company together. Lao Ma's achievements today owe much to my father's contributions. So when my father fell ill, Lao Ma was quite concerned.
After hanging up the phone, Lao Ma grabbed a quick bite downstairs at the office before heading out in his car. While waiting at a red light, he rolled down the window and idly glanced at the roadside.
A young girl stood next to his window, talking on the phone while applying lipstick. She wore a white shirt and a black pencil skirt, her long legs slender and her figure graceful. Lao Ma couldn't help but take another look.
Just then, the girl turned her head. Her features were delicate, her makeup light, and her eyes bright.
Lao Ma was momentarily taken aback.
“Driver, just drop me off at the intersection ahead,” she said.
“Sure thing,” he replied, feeling in good spirits as he pressed the gas pedal and moved forward.
“Driver, you’re not from around here, are you?” she asked.
The girl introduced herself as Feifei, her personality carefree and lively.
“How did you know?” he inquired.
“People from out of town always call taxi drivers ‘driver’,” she said with a cheerful smile. “You’re pretty handsome; how come you don’t have a girlfriend?”
“I just haven’t met the right one yet,” Lao Ma responded, studying Feifei before tentatively asking, “What about you? Do you have a boyfriend?”
“Me?”
Feifei let out a light huff. "I’m not interested in dating; relationships just bring in third parties and distract me from making money."
"Why's that?" Lao Ma asked, intrigued.
Feifei blinked playfully. "I won’t tell you."
She turned away, humming a tune and swinging her legs. Her flirtatious demeanor made Lao Ma feel a rush of warmth.
He parked the car at the intersection, turning to meet Feifei's gaze. "Can I add you on WeChat?"
"Sure!" Feifei replied, scanning the QR code before waving goodbye and leaving.
Lao Ma watched her retreating figure, his emotions churning for a long time.
A week later, Lao Ma and Feifei lay in a hotel suite, both glistening with sweat.
Feifei nestled against Lao Ma, her voice sweet. "Lao Ma, you have such great stamina."
Lao Ma took a drag from his post-coital cigarette, his gaze deep. "Did you put on lipstick that day to seduce me?"
"Yes," she sighed. "I wanted to get to the gallery quickly, but I got stuck in traffic. I was worried about not having enough time and no money for living expenses, so I had to think of this way."
"Then why did you get back in the car later?"
Feifei pinched Lao Ma's cheek playfully. "Because you were staring at me."
"I thought you were interested in me," he said, momentarily stunned, his heart aching.
He extinguished his cigarette and pinned Feifei beneath him. "With looks like yours, who would let you go without living expenses?"
"Of course not! I'm very well-behaved," she replied, wrapping her arms around Lao Ma's neck and exhaling softly.
Lao Ma could no longer hold back and leaned in for a kiss.
The private detective sent me a video clip.
Lao Ma was seen entering a room with a young girl in his arms.
"Is that all?" I typed back, watching the video intently.
"They went into the room and haven't come out, sister Ying. What should we do?"
"I need evidence that can secure a conviction."
I transferred fifty thousand yuan. "The remaining payment will be sent once I confirm the information."
"Got it, sister Ying."
The next morning, Lao Ma emerged from the bedroom, looking spirited.
I was sitting on the sofa, scrolling through my phone.
"Baby, I heard you coughing last night. Are you coming down with something?"
Lao Ma walked over, reaching for my forehead.
"I'm fine."
I turned my head to avoid his touch.
"I bought a Hermès bag. I'll bring it over in a bit."
