Lao Ma smiled and said, "Tomorrow is our three-year anniversary. Take a day off, and let's go out to eat together."
"Sure."
I closed my phone, stood up, and said, "I'm leaving work now; I'm heading home."
"Alright, I'll go to the office first and come back to pick you up in the evening."
Lao Ma grabbed his car keys and walked out.
He opened the door but turned back to me, "Honey, why didn't you see me off like you used to?"
"I just came out, didn't I?"
I walked over, wrapped my arms around his neck, and gave him a kiss. "Go on now."
"Then I'm off."
After Lao Ma left, I went downstairs as well.
I got into the car and sent Lao Ma a message: "I'm driving now; I'll be there soon."
"Okay."
Lao Ma replied with a hugging emoji.
The traffic was a bit congested, but I managed to get there without wasting too much time.
Lao Ma was waiting for me at the entrance of the private room. He seemed restless, tapping his fingers on the steering wheel while his phone screen lit up occasionally.
"Is something wrong?" I unbuckled my seatbelt.
"No, no," he replied with a forced smile. "I'm just here to keep you company today."
"Alright."
I nodded, not calling him out on it.
After dinner, my dad sent me a photo.
"Xiao Ying, thank you! And please thank your husband for me; this thing works really well."
In the photo, my father was wearing an oxygen mask and taking in oxygen.
I dialed his number. "Dad, does that Oxygen Therapy Machine really work?"
"It works. I've been sleeping much better."
"That's good to hear."
I intended to take credit for Lao Ma, but out of the corner of my eye, I noticed Lao Ma staring at the corner, his eyes nearly popping out.
Following his gaze, I saw a young girl sitting there, idly stirring her coffee.
She looked very young, with delicate makeup, her eyes filled with emotion, and every gesture exuded charm.
My heart skipped a beat.
Is this Lao Ma's lover?
"Dad, I have to get back to work. I'll hang up now."
I hurriedly ended the call and turned to Lao Ma. "I'm going to the restroom."
"I'll go too," he said, standing up and following me under the pretense of needing to use the bathroom.
I shot him a glare over my shoulder.
Lao Ma forced a smile and retreated.
I walked down the corridor and entered the restroom.
The girl from earlier was gone.
When did she leave?
I turned around and returned to the private room, sitting across from Lao Ma and sizing him up.
Lao Ma felt my scrutiny and made an excuse to go to the restroom, getting up to leave.
I picked up my phone and messaged the private investigator: "Check on the girl who was sitting in the corner earlier."
"Her name is Feifei, and she lives at..."
The private detective sent over a string of addresses.
“She just left. If you go to the bathroom now, you’ll definitely catch her.”
I put away my phone and downed my glass of red wine in one go.
How dare Lao Ma?
He was brazenly meeting his mistress right in front of me!
Lao Ma was in the bathroom with Feifei; I didn’t know what they were discussing.
But judging by Lao Ma’s expression, I guessed that Feifei must have been questioning him about whether he wanted to break up with her.
Lao Ma explained that today was a special day and he had to accompany me.
Feifei threatened Lao Ma, saying I would spill the beans.
Lao Ma pulled her into the bathroom.
Soon, I heard Feifei ’s soft gasps.
Lao Ma locked the door from the inside, and Feifei ’s voice became intermittent: “Lao Ma… I can’t take it anymore…”
Lao Ma pressed her against the wall, kissing her passionately.
Feifei ’s voice grew hoarse from shouting.
Five minutes later, Lao Ma emerged, straightening his clothes.
Feifei waited a moment before finally opening the door.
She walked out, her legs unsteady.
I watched coldly, a strange sense of pleasure blooming within me.
