He suddenly swung his arm and shouted loudly, "Everyone, attack together and take this kid down! The power he wields is ours for the taking!"
Upon hearing this, the bandits' eyes flashed with greed and fervor as they surged forward to pounce on Chen Feng. A myriad of weapons formed a deadly net around him.
Although Chen Feng was powerful, he found himself overwhelmed by sheer numbers; after all, many of these bandits were at the Houtian Shizhong level. Despite his agility, he began to feel the strain under their relentless assault.
He struck out with his palm, unleashing a powerful wave of Ling Qi that sent several bandits staggering back, but more rushed in to take their place. Anxiety gripped him as he realized that if this continued, he would soon exhaust his Ling Qi and fall into their hands.
Just when he was in dire straits, a commanding figure suddenly appeared at the entrance of Yard Station.
"Why is it so noisy here?" The sudden voice caused everyone to halt in their tracks.
Then, a group of young men slowly walked in. Chen Moxuan surveyed the scene with a disdainful smile on his face. Although his voice was low, it carried an undeniable authority.
"A bunch of people bullying a child—how shameless!"
Seeing his ancestor appear, Chen Feng felt an indescribable joy swell within him. He knew he was finally saved. Despite being utterly exhausted, the sight of his ancestor's imposing figure filled him with warmth, as if all his fatigue had been swept away.
"Ancestor!"
Nan Kuangfeng smirked at the sight and looked down at Chen Feng with contempt. "Hmph! You think you can rely on your ancestor? How laughable! Do you really believe that just because you mention some so-called ancestor, you can save your life? You're so naive!"
He paused for a moment, a glint of malice flashing in his eyes before he continued to warn Chen Feng. "Let me tell you, there’s no way you’re getting out of here alive today! Even if your ancestor comes, it won’t change this fact!"
However, in response to Nan Kuangfeng's mockery and threats, Chen Moxuan merely smiled faintly. He stepped forward slowly, his gaze piercing as if he could see into people's hearts.
Looking mockingly at Nan Kuangfeng, he said, "Nan Kuangfeng, do you think you're something special? In my eyes, you're nothing but a clown. Do you really believe that you can deal with me using this ragtag bunch? How ridiculous!"
His voice was calm, yet it carried an irresistible authority and dominance. A cold glint flickered in his eyes, as if he could see through all illusions. He slowly raised his hand and waved it gently, instantly unleashing a powerful wave of spiritual energy that reverberated through the air, causing a buzzing sound all around.
The bandits around him changed color in response, feeling an unprecedented pressure bearing down on them, making it seem as if even breathing had become difficult. But before they could react to Chen Moxuan's impending strike, the roof above them was suddenly torn apart, and a massive tiger shadow descended from the sky.
With a deafening roar, it crashed down, shattering the entire Yard Station. Dust flew everywhere, and amidst the chaos, everyone felt an overwhelming force sweeping over them.
Seeing this, Chen Moxuan couldn't help but mutter to himself: "Tiger Brother, are you trying to crush me too?" Despite his words, his movements were swift; he quickly flashed and pulled Chen Feng away, standing firmly outside the Yard Station.
However, when he turned back to look, he was met with a scene that filled him with rage. The enormous Tiger Brother was devouring the bandits who had surrounded Chen Feng one by one. The sounds of its chewing were distinctly audible, each bite echoing its terrifying strength.
Once it finished swallowing the last of its prey, Tiger Brother slowly turned its head back towards Chen Moxuan, its fierce face seemingly breaking into a mocking smile. With its cold, gleaming eyes fixed on him, it seemed to say: "This time, I win."
Chen Moxuan glanced at Tiger Brother in disbelief, pondering silently. He had initially intended to spare Nan Kuangfeng's life to extract information about who was orchestrating everything behind the scenes from this arrogant fellow. Now it seemed that his plan had been completely disrupted by this sudden appearance of Tiger Brother.
He stepped forward and kicked at Tiger Brother's massive paw, trying to coax it into spitting out Nan Kuangfeng. "Spit out that leader," he demanded.
However, Tiger Brother merely let out a lazy burp and fixed its cold eyes on Chen Moxuan. "I eat by my own strength; why should I spit anything out?" it replied defiantly.
Hmph! I'll deal with you later. Chen Moxuan knew that once someone entered Tiger Brother's belly, they would be digested completely within moments. With a life lost, there was no turning back now. He turned away.
Yard Station had become a ruin, and as night fell, the two could only helplessly spend the night outside.
Chen Feng gathered his spirits and began to clear away the surrounding rubble and broken wood. He wanted to build a simple tent for his Ancestor to shield against the cold night wind. His movements were quick and nimble; despite his physical and mental exhaustion, there was a determined glimmer in his eyes.
"Ancestor, you rest for now. I'll have the tent up in no time," Chen Feng said as he busied himself. His hands skillfully maneuvered through the materials, and before long, a makeshift yet sturdy tent was erected.
Chen Moxuan watched Chen Feng's actions, feeling a warmth in his heart at this ordinary scene, perhaps due to their blood connection. He nodded gently, saying nothing more, but a hint of approval flashed in his eyes.
He stepped into the tent and sat down, his gaze becoming deep as if he were pondering something. Before sleeping, Chen Moxuan slowly spoke, his voice carrying a hint of warmth: "Chen Feng, why did you want to take the Wu Zhuang exam in the capital?"
Chen Feng was momentarily taken aback by the question but soon managed a wry smile. Sitting at the entrance of the tent and gazing at the starry sky, he replied slowly, "Ancestor, you may not know this, but ever since our family fell from grace, I’ve felt an immense burden on my shoulders. Taking the Wu Zhuang exam is the only way I can think of to turn things around. If I become a Wu Zhuang, not only can I bring honor to our family, but I will also have access to more resources and connections. Just like when I met His Highness the Crown Prince; he is a good person who has treated me well. Moreover, upon my return, the Shangqing Sect was eager to recruit me as such a talented disciple."
Hearing this, Chen Moxuan sighed softly. He pondered internally why Shangqing Sect, one of the top sects near the border, would be so interested in a Mortal Empire's Wu Zhuang. There must be their own motives and plans behind it.
He spoke slowly again, his tone serious. "The Shangqing Sect values you so highly not just because of your talent and intelligence. They might be competing with the Mortal Empire for people. But think about it— even the weakest Da Ao Kingdom is stronger than any sect and is on par with Holy Land in strength. You still consider Shangqing Sect? That path may not be a good one!"
