The morning sunlight filtered through the gaps in the window, gently illuminating Xiao Haochen's room. As usual, he was engrossed in reading "Ancient Divine Physician's Record" under the faint morning light, each word seeming like a key to unlock the treasures of medicine, captivating him completely.
Suddenly, a dull thud echoed from the living room, shattering the tranquility of the morning. A sense of foreboding gripped Xiao Haochen's heart. He quickly set down his book and rushed toward the living room. There, he found his grandmother lying on the floor, her face pale, eyes closed, and unresponsive.
"Grandma! Grandma! What happened to you?" Xiao Haochen shouted in panic, his voice trembling. He hurriedly knelt beside her, gently lifting her up in an attempt to awaken her, but she showed no signs of response. With trembling hands, he dialed for an ambulance.
As he waited for the paramedics to arrive, Xiao Haochen was consumed by anxiety. He held his grandmother's hand tightly, as if that alone could transfer strength to her. "Grandma, you have to hold on; the ambulance is coming soon," he murmured repeatedly, tears welling up in his eyes.
The ambulance arrived with a wail and rushed his grandmother to the hospital. After a series of examinations, the doctor gravely informed Xiao Haochen: "Your grandmother has suffered an acute cerebral infarction. Her condition is critical and requires immediate surgery, but the risks are extremely high. Even if the surgery is successful, there may be severe aftereffects."
Xiao Haochen's legs went weak; he could barely stand. He looked at the doctor with pleading eyes. "Doctor, please save my grandmother. I am willing to pay any price."
The doctor sighed helplessly. "We will do our best, but you must also prepare yourself mentally."
Xiao Haochen slumped onto a bench in the hospital, his mind in turmoil. He thought of the medical knowledge he had acquired; there seemed to be treatment methods for acute cerebral infarction in "Ancient Divine Physician's Record," but he had never practiced them on a human being before. This was his beloved grandmother; he feared that if he failed, he would lose her forever.
"What should I do? Can I really save Grandma?" Xiao Haochen cradled his head in his hands, engulfed in extreme pain and struggle.
At that moment, his grandmother's smile suddenly flashed in his mind. He remembered how she had worked tirelessly over the years to raise him and all she had sacrificed for him. "Haochen, you can do it; Grandma believes in you." Her voice seemed to resonate in his ears.
Xiao Haochen lifted his head, determination gradually filling his gaze. "Yes, I can't give up; I will use my medical skills to save Grandma."
He approached the doctor with resolve and said firmly, "Doctor, I want to try treating my grandmother using traditional Chinese medicine; I have some confidence."
The doctor looked at him in surprise. "Using Traditional Chinese Medicine to treat Acute Cerebral Infarction? That's a significant risk, and do you have enough experience?"
Xiao Haochen took a deep breath. "Although I haven't practiced on humans, I have studied the relevant Medical Principles. I believe I can do it. Doctor, please give me a chance."
The doctor pondered for a moment before finally nodding. "Alright, since you're so determined, we can assist you from the side, but if the situation worsens, we must proceed with surgery immediately."
Xiao Haochen returned to his grandmother's hospital room, looking at her unconscious form in the bed, his heart heavy with sorrow. He carefully took out the silver needles and, following the records from his Medical Book, located the Acupoint before gently inserting the needle. With each needle he placed, he focused intently, beads of sweat forming on his forehead.
Time passed slowly in the quiet room, where only the ticking of the machines and Xiao Haochen's anxious breaths could be heard. Suddenly, his grandmother's finger twitched. Xiao Haochen looked at her in surprise. "Grandma, can you hear me?"
After a moment, she slowly opened her eyes and weakly asked, "Haochen, what happened to me?"
Xiao Haochen burst into tears of joy. "Grandma, you're alright! You're alright! It's me; I used the medical skills I've learned to save you."
A look of relief spread across his grandmother's face. "Good boy, I knew you could do it."
The doctor and nurses entered the room and were astonished to see her awake. After an examination, the doctor said, "Her recovery is quite good—much better than expected."
Xiao Haochen held his grandmother's hand tightly, filled with gratitude and joy. In that moment, he became even more determined to continue on his medical path; he wanted to use his skills to protect those around him and save more lives.
