On a moonlit night, Xiao Haochen and Lin Wanqing met by the lake in the park. The surface of the lake shimmered with light, reflecting the stars above, creating a dreamlike scene. However, the mood between them was anything but light.
Lin Wanqing let out a soft sigh, breaking the silence. "Haochen, my family has been urging me to break up with you again. They think that you're too focused on your medical career and don't have enough time for me, and they're worried I won't be happy in the future."
Xiao Haochen tightly grasped Lin Wanqing's hand, his eyes filled with determination. "Wanqing, I know I've been spending less time with you lately due to my research and academic exchanges. But you have to believe that everything I'm doing is for our future."
Lin Wanqing looked up at him, tears glistening in her eyes. "I know, Haochen. But I'm really torn between my family and you. I don't want to lose either side."
Xiao Haochen pulled Lin Wanqing into his embrace. "Wanqing, I'm sorry for putting you in this situation. Give me some time; I will talk to your family and show them my determination."
Leaning against Xiao Haochen, Lin Wanqing nodded slightly. "I hope we can reach a good outcome."
A few days later, Xiao Haochen arrived at Lin's family home. Lin Wanqing's parents sat in the living room, their expressions serious.
"Haochen, you're here," Lin Wanqing's father said, his voice lacking much emotion.
"Uncle, Auntie, I'm here today to have a serious talk with you," Xiao Haochen said earnestly.
Lin Wanqing's mother frowned slightly. "Haochen, we know you're excellent, but Wanqing is our daughter. We want her to be happy. With how busy you are now, can you give her enough companionship?"
Xiao Haochen replied seriously, "Auntie, I understand your concerns. Although my work is indeed demanding right now, I will manage my time better and spend more time with Wanqing. Moreover, I believe that as my career stabilizes, I will have more time and energy to care for her."
Lin Wanqing's father pondered for a moment. "Haochen, we are not completely opposed to your relationship. However, we hope you can provide Wanqing with a clear plan for the future."
Xiao Haochen nodded, "Uncle, I already have a plan. In the coming years, I will continue to delve into the field of medicine and strive to achieve more research results. At the same time, I will work hard to balance my career and family. When the time is right, I will marry Wanqing and give her a stable home."
Lin Wanqing's parents exchanged glances but remained silent. Just then, Lin Wanqing came down from upstairs. She walked over to Xiao Haochen and took his hand, saying, "Parents, I truly love Haochen, and I believe in him. Please give us a chance."
Lin Wanqing's mother looked into her daughter's determined eyes and sighed, "Alright, since you both are so insistent, we won't oppose it any longer. But Haochen, you must keep your word and treat Wanqing well."
Xiao Haochen quickly replied, "Auntie, please rest assured, I will."
However, just when they thought the difficulties had passed, a new challenge arose. Xiao Haochen received an opportunity to study and exchange ideas at a top medical institution abroad for two years.
"Haochen, this is a rare opportunity; you must go," Lin Wanqing encouraged him despite her reluctance.
Xiao Haochen hesitated, "Wanqing, but if I go abroad, we'll be apart for two years. I'm worried..."
Lin Wanqing interrupted him, "Don't worry, Haochen. Our love won't change because of distance. You need to take good care of yourself while studying abroad; I'll be here waiting for you to come back."
Xiao Haochen looked at Lin Wanqing with gratitude, "Wanqing, thank you for your understanding and support. When I return, we will never be apart again."
During Xiao Haochen's time abroad, they could only keep in touch through video calls and phone conversations. Although the distance was great, their hearts remained closely connected.
"Haochen, how are you doing over there? Is your study going well?" Lin Wanqing asked with concern during a video call.
Xiao Haochen smiled and replied, "I'm doing well here; my studies are going smoothly. Wanqing, how about you? Are you busy with work?"
Lin Wanqing nodded, "I'm doing well, just missing you a bit."
"I miss you too, Wanqing. When I get back, let's go watch a movie and shop together, making up for the time we've lost over the past two years," Xiao Haochen said earnestly.
Two years had passed in the blink of an eye, and Xiao Haochen returned home after completing his studies. As he stepped out of the airport and saw Lin Wanqing standing among the crowd, tears glistening in her eyes, his heart swelled with emotion.
"Wanqing!" Xiao Haochen shouted as he quickly walked towards her and pulled her tightly into his embrace.
"Haochen, you finally came back," Lin Wanqing said, her voice choked with tears.
Xiao Haochen gently stroked Lin Wanqing's hair. "Yes, I'm back. From now on, we will never be apart again."
After enduring a series of trials, Xiao Haochen and Lin Wanqing's love had grown even stronger. They understood that there would likely be more challenges ahead, but as long as they faced them together, nothing could hinder their pursuit of happiness.
