On a warm and sunny weekend, Xiao Haochen had made careful preparations and brought Lin Wanqing to the Lin family home. This time, he felt particularly anxious. Everyone gathered in the living room, and the atmosphere felt much more relaxed than before. Lin Wanqing's father spoke first. "Haochen, we’ve heard about what’s been happening at school lately. You’ve done well. It takes a lot of courage to stand firm in seeking the truth when faced with false accusations."
Xiao Haochen sincerely replied, "Uncle, I just did what I was supposed to do. I firmly believe that as long as one acts with integrity, there’s nothing to fear from shadows. I owe a lot to the support of my school and friends; that's how I was able to clear my name so quickly."
At that moment, Lin Wanqing's grandfather, Grandfather Lin, came down from upstairs. Xiao Haochen hurriedly stood up and respectfully greeted him. "Grandfather Lin, hello."
Grandfather Lin waved his hand with a smile. "Haochen, no need to be so formal. You saved my life and helped our family resolve a crisis; we all remember that."
Xiao Haochen felt a bit shy and said, "Grandfather Lin, that was just something I should do. How is your health now?"
Grandfather Lin nodded. "Much better now, thanks to that medicine you provided. Your medical skills will surely benefit many people in the future."
After chatting for a while about everyday matters, Lin Wanqing's uncle, Lin Yaozong, walked in. Previously, he had harbored some biases against Xiao Haochen, but after observing him over time, his attitude had changed.
"Haochen," Lin Yaozong said with rare sincerity, "I had some misunderstandings about you before; please don’t take it to heart."
Xiao Haochen quickly said, "Uncle, I understand your concerns. It's my fault for not showing you my determination before."
Lin Yaozong patted Xiao Haochen's shoulder and replied, "It seems that I was wrong. Your achievements in medicine and your attitude in facing difficulties have impressed me greatly. With Wanqing by your side, we can rest easy."
Hearing these words, Xiao Haochen felt a surge of emotion in his heart. He looked at Lin Wanqing, and both of them sparkled with happiness in their eyes.
At that moment, Lin Wanqing's mother also spoke up, "Haochen, we all know that you and Wanqing truly love each other. If you encounter any difficulties in the future, don't hesitate to talk to us; we are all family."
Xiao Haochen nodded vigorously, "Thank you, Uncle and Aunt. Thank you, Grandfather Lin and Uncle. I will take good care of Wanqing and live up to your trust."
Lin Wanqing leaned on Xiao Haochen's shoulder, her face beaming with a happy smile. "Parents, Grandpa, Uncle, I knew that Haochen would definitely earn your approval."
In the warm atmosphere, the family enjoyed a pleasant lunch together. Laughter filled the dining table as Xiao Haochen truly felt the warmth of being accepted by this family.
After the meal, Lin Wanqing took Xiao Haochen to the backyard. The yard was filled with various flowers and plants, vibrant under the sunlight.
"Haochen, look! Everyone recognizes you today; I am so happy," Lin Wanqing said joyfully.
Xiao Haochen held Lin Wanqing's hand tightly. "Wanqing, this is all thanks to your unwavering support by my side. From now on, I will work even harder to give you a happy life."
Lin Wanqing nodded slightly, her eyes full of love. "I believe in you, Haochen. We will definitely be happy together."
From that day on, Xiao Haochen's relationship with the Lin family grew increasingly harmonious.
