The two sat atop the hill, gazing quietly at the scenery below. Fields of rice, bamboo groves, flowing streams, and scattered homes stretched out before them, along with vast stretches of wild grassland. It was a beauty unique to the countryside. 0

There was no clamor of the city; only tranquility and harmony remained. As the sun dipped below the horizon and night fell, the sky was brushed with a faint red hue. A gentle breeze swept through, bringing a refreshing coolness. 0

The girl sat silently, her delicate strands of hair dancing lightly in the wind. Her bright eyes seemed captivated by the picturesque village landscape, lost in deep thought. Meanwhile, the boy quietly observed her, feeling ripples of emotion stir within him. He watched her enraptured expression and felt his heart flutter. Yet, he lacked the courage to break this serene moment; he simply admired her beauty and gentleness from beside her. 0

They sat side by side on that gentle rise, their gazes drifting over the expansive and peaceful view below. In their sight, patches of lush green grass swayed like the hem of a dress in the breeze. The vibrant bamboo forest stood proudly, resembling a green barrier woven by nature's skilled hands. The babbling stream flowed like a lively spirit, joyfully rushing past. The scattered houses resembled pearls adorning a painted canvas, exuding warmth. 0

Everything here was so unique and beautiful—a breathtaking portrait belonging solely to the countryside. In stark contrast to the bustling noise of urban life, this land possessed an intoxicating tranquility, harmony, and peace. 0

As the sun continued its descent, the soft breeze caressed the girl’s silky hair like gentle hands, stirring something deep within the boy's heart. At that moment, she was completely immersed in the enchanting village scenery; however, he was entirely captivated by her charming presence—unaware that she was oblivious to his gaze. 0

The boy continued to watch this serene and graceful girl beside him, feeling subtle waves of emotion rising within him—like ripples on a calm lake stirred by a thrown stone—transforming his once tranquil heart into one filled with unrest. 0

Time passed slowly as the sun neared its final disappearance below the horizon. 0

“Lin Menghan.” 0

“Huh?” Lin Menghan turned to look at Xu Nancheng, causing him to reluctantly shift his gaze away from her. 0

The sky was getting dark; it was time to head back. With that, Xu Nancheng propped himself up with one hand and stood up. 0

The girl beside him, however, merely reached out her hand to Xu Nancheng without getting up. 0

"What are you doing?" Xu Nancheng tilted his head, puzzled by Lin Menghan's actions. 0

"Help me up!" She looked up at him, blinking her eyes earnestly. 0

"Huh? Isn't that a bit inappropriate?" Upon hearing this, Xu Nancheng's hand became restless, brushing against his clothes. 0

"Yes, exactly!" He felt shy again. 0

In the past few instances, it had always been Lin Menghan pulling him up. This time, he was the one initiating it, and just thinking about it made his heart race. 0

"Okay! I’ll pull you up!" He finally made up his mind. 0

He reached out toward Lin Menghan's hand, which was almost too tired to lift. Just as he was about to grab her wrist, she dodged away. 0

"Grab my palm!" She raised her hand again. 0

Xu Nancheng: ??? 0

"That's so unfair!" 0

Since he had already touched her wrist, grabbing her palm shouldn’t be a problem either. 0

"Right! She asked for it; it's not like I'm forcing her." He steeled himself. 0

Resolutely, he took hold of Lin Menghan's small hand. 0

Instead of just pulling her up directly, he squeezed her little hand gently. 0

So soft and tender; it felt so nice! 0

Feeling an unusual sensation in his palm, Lin Menghan lowered her head and shyly said, "C-can you please stop squeezing?" 0

Her voice carried a hint of bashfulness. 0

"Oh, oh, okay." Coming back to his senses, he quickly pulled Lin Menghan up. 0

"Thanks!" she said as she turned her head away. 0

"Don't laugh!" 0

Xu Nancheng was still savoring that touch; feeling it with his wrist was completely different from holding her hand directly! He wished he could hold her hand forever! 0

"Come on, Nancheng! Stop daydreaming!" Lin Menghan said, giving Xu Nancheng a light tap on the head. 0

"Oh, right." He snapped back to reality and followed her. 0

But as he watched her bounce ahead like a little rabbit, he couldn't help but get lost in thought again after just a couple of steps. 0

She likes me! She definitely likes me! 0

How else could he explain her words, "I miss you so much," and "I really like you"? And what about all those outrageous things she said? Don’t tell me friends can talk like that! 0

At a barbecue stall, Ying Cheng exclaimed, "I've thought about it all afternoon, and I've figured it out!" 0

"Figured out what?" 0

"I shouldn't be thinking about my sister." 0

"Why not? She's not really your sister!" Chen Yi asked Xu Dong lightly. 0

"That's beside the point! She's going to be Nancheng's girlfriend!" 0

"So what? You keep calling her your sister; she's not your real sister. What’s there to be afraid of?" 0

"Hey! Are you trying to push me into making a mistake?" Xu Dong shot up from his seat. 0

"Calm down, calm down! Why are you getting so worked up?" Chen Yi chuckled, pressing Xu Dong back down. "Come on, buddy, I’m not trying to set you up for failure here." 0

Then Xu Dong began his analysis. 0

"Look, I know I’m just being lustful. If I meet someone even better looking, what will happen then? What about my sister? And besides, there's a good chance Nancheng likes her. If I do something stupid, I’ll be a total jerk!" 0

"You know how Nancheng is—she's shy and lacks confidence. She’s always worried and has trouble opening up to us." 0

"But you have to believe in the power of love! I truly believe that once they get together, Nancheng will completely change." 0

"The most important thing is that my sister definitely has feelings for Nancheng." 0
