"You might not believe it, but let's talk in your room," Liu Ru Yan said as she sat down on the edge of the bed. However, as soon as she moved, she felt as if her insides had shifted.
"Hiss..." Liu Ru Yan furrowed her brows tightly and reached out with her slender hand to touch her chest.
"What's wrong?" Lan Ruo Yi asked, hearing her gasp. She quickly turned to Liu Ru Yan and noticed that her face had suddenly turned pale.
Immediately, she rushed to support Liu Ru Yan, while the two men nearby also noticed the commotion. Mo Daowan abandoned Liu Yuchuan and hurried over to Liu Ru Yan, his steps quickening with concern. Liu Yuchuan also glanced at Liu Ru Yan and saw her pale face; indeed, she looked a bit like a sickly beauty.
"Oh dear, lie down! Why are you getting up?" Liu Yuchuan said as he jogged towards the bed. Liu Ru Yan shot him a glare. "You’re too loud; you disturbed my rest."
Liu Yuchuan responded, while Mo Daowan grew anxious. "It's our fault; just tell us directly. Don't get up; you still haven't recovered."
Liu Yuchuan chimed in, "Yeah, just tell Uncle, and he’ll step aside. He won't argue with you. Look at you; you're suffering from being stubborn."
At that moment, Liu Ru Yan wished she could sew Liu Yuchuan's mouth shut. Just as she contemplated taking action, Lan Ruo Yi sensed her intention. She suddenly reached out to cover Liu Yuchuan's mouth with one hand while pushing Mo Daowan away with the other, effectively removing both of them from the scene.
Liu Yuchuan exclaimed, "Is this how you treat Uncle?"
Mo Daowan was equally surprised that he was caught up in this.
"Just push him away; what does it have to do with me?" Liu Ru Yan thought as she silently gave Lan Ruo Yi a thumbs-up for her quick thinking.
Liu Yuchuan was infuriated by Liu Ru Yan's actions and wanted to say something more. However, before he could continue, Mo Daowan swiftly locked his hand around Liu Yuchuan's throat and pulled him out.
"Shh! Don't disturb her rest," he said while dragging him away.
Liu Yuchuan pointed at Lan Ruo Yi in indignation, as if questioning why she wasn't doing anything. This time even Mo Daowan looked at him with a bewildered expression.
Lan Ruo Yi provocatively stared at Liu Yuchuan and then, amidst their astonished gazes, rushed towards Liu Ru Yan and hugged her neck, planting a kiss on her cheek.
Liu Ru Yan looked confused, while Mo Daowan said, "Sister, what you're doing is really unfair."
"I knew there was something going on between you two!" Liu Yuchuan exclaimed.
After successfully sending the two off, Lan Ruo Yi gazed at Liu Ru Yan with a worried expression. "What’s going on with you?"
Lan Ruo Yi felt that Liu Ru Yan's condition was worse than before; at least she hadn't had sudden fevers in the past. Now, she was both exhausted and feverish, which was quite concerning.
"I didn’t tell you this before, but when I first saw Jiang Nan, aside from him looking like a king, I thought he was a bit eerie. Yesterday when I saw him, he looked at me and I suddenly felt flashes of images in my mind. My head felt particularly heavy."
Liu Ru Yan half-lay on the bed, her eyes casually scanning the opposite villa before turning back to Lan Ruo Yi.
Lan Ruo Yi sensed that things were getting serious; she hadn’t expected Jiang Nan to be the issue. "Is there a problem with Jiang Nan?"
"Yes, and it’s a big one!" Liu Ru Yan nodded firmly, as if confirming her own feelings.
During their conversation, someone by the window of the villa instinctively ducked when Liu Ru Yan glanced over, leaving those nearby puzzled.
"Why are you hiding? She can’t see you," Bai Juan remarked, unsure of why she had acted that way.
Zhang Baofeng became curious. "You said she lives here; what does she want from our company?"
Bai Juan was equally perplexed about what these young ladies were thinking. "Do they want to suffer?"
"Who knows? Maybe that's why Jiang Zong is reluctant to let them participate," Bai Juan replied. Upon hearing this, Zhang Baofeng fell silent.
"Do you think Jiang Zong is right?"
Bai Juan was surprised that Zhang Baofeng would ask such a question. After pondering for a moment, she responded, "Whether it’s right or wrong doesn’t matter now; we’re all in this together. I advise you not to have any other thoughts since we all know his methods."
Bai Juan felt clear-headed; it was like when she knew she was jumping into a pit of fire but chose to do so anyway. Perhaps deep down, she was just a bad person.
Zhang Baofeng remained silent, neither agreeing nor disagreeing, but simply stared intently at the two people chatting across from them.
Look, even though Bai Juan is young, once she decides to do something, she won’t leave herself a way out. She doesn’t even know if it’s because she’s getting older that she starts to worry about what will happen if the truth comes out one day. Will they forgive her?
Perhaps not. They may be innocent, but their standards are still high. It’s just that we are destined to be on different paths, Young Ladies!
