Seeing that Tang Mu Xuan showed no signs of loosening up, Lin Fengmian grew anxious.
"There's really no need for this. We can think of another way. Please, don’t take action," he said, his voice dropping to a whisper as if afraid of being overheard. He carefully glanced around, observing the reactions of those nearby before softly uttering his plea.
Tang Mu Xuan felt helpless. Where had he given the impression that he was about to act?
"I have no such intention. Besides, I have matters to attend to right now, so please don’t follow me."
At that moment, Tang Mu Xuan indeed had something urgent to deal with. The onlookers and colleagues around them shifted their attention elsewhere; without any gossip to indulge in, they decided not to intrude.
He was anxious to find someone. The situation had escalated significantly, and since someone from above had come down to handle the matter, it seemed reasonable for him to mobilize his own resources.
With that thought in mind, Tang Mu Xuan drove to a location that appeared desolate from the outside but held unexpected wonders within.
"Is the young master back? The sir has been waiting for you for quite some time," an elderly man in a neat suit approached Tang Mu Xuan with an energetic demeanor.
Seeing the sudden appearance of the elder, Tang Mu Xuan smiled helplessly. "Wang Bo, could you please not be so startling?"
"My young master, I’m just trying to toughen you up. At your age, it’s surprising how easily you get scared," Wang Bo replied.
Tang Mu Xuan opened his mouth as if to retort but found himself at a loss for words and ultimately chose silence.
Noticing Tang Mu Xuan’s inability to respond, Wang Bo chuckled, a hint of smugness in his eyes. "You should hurry inside now." After sharing a quick laugh, he urged Tang Mu Xuan along.
Tang Mu Xuan quickened his pace toward the study.
"Wang Bo, what do you think of Xiao Xuan?"
A young man's voice suddenly interjected—gentle yet laced with a hint of probing.
"Eldest Young Master, the young master is still too young," Wang Bo replied.
His words rang true; once one understood what he was involved in, it became clear.
"Is it that overly idealistic notions will eventually be crushed by reality?" The young man stood beside Wang Bo, watching Tang Mu Xuan's cheerful figure as he walked away.
Wang Bo did not speak, but his silence conveyed agreement.
The young man smiled and said, "Wang Bo, this world will pursue ideals that reality dares not touch, even if the journey is difficult."
Wang Bo smiled back, a carefree expression on his face. "Yes, I’m getting old; I can’t keep up with you young folks anymore."
He understood that this meant he would always stand behind Tang Mu Xuan in support, which reassured him.
Both young masters had grown up under his watchful eye. In the past, their conflicts were trivial, but this time they had a serious argument over the younger master’s work issues. The Eldest Young Master believed that the younger master was too naive and would easily be taken advantage of, a sentiment he still held. However, the Eldest Young Master had begun to gradually loosen his grip and accept new ideas. This was truly a positive change.
Tang Huai Xu ultimately chose not to enter and turned to leave. During this time, he had contemplated many things and finally agreed with Tang Mu Xuan's perspective. He realized he had been too conservative; although he now recognized Tang Mu Xuan's views, he did not believe that being traditional was inherently wrong.
Liu Ru Yan returned to the company. When she arrived in the afternoon, Lan Ruo Yi was focused on her work. Upon learning that Liu Ru Yan was safe, she finally felt relieved.
One by one, people came to inquire about the situation. The first to arrive were Zhang Baofeng and Juan, but they were intercepted by Lan Ruo Yi. Once Liu Ru Yan sat down, Zhang Baofeng and Juan eagerly prepared to approach again.
Just as they were about to move forward, Li Meng hurriedly strode out of the office. Chen Chao frowned slightly as he glanced at his phone; a flicker of concern crossed his eyes before his expression turned resolute as if he had thought of something.
Liu Ru Yan watched Li Meng leave in a hurry, and an unsettling feeling flashed through her mind. She sensed something was wrong; it felt as if Li Meng was in danger.
Lan Ruo Yi was taken aback, pausing her work as she contemplated the direction Li Meng had gone.
"I need to finish this quickly; otherwise, I won’t be able to leave on time," Liu Ru Yan thought resignedly as she focused on her tasks.
Finally, the workday came to an end. Others rushed out of the office in a hurry while Lan Ruo Yi and Liu Ru Yan remained still as mountains, though curiosity bubbled within them.
Liu Ru Yan casually grabbed a lucky audience member. Upon closer inspection, it was Juan, who looked a bit dazed as if she couldn't comprehend what had just happened.
With a milk carton in her mouth and a backpack slung over her shoulder, the zipper of her bag was still half-open.
"Why the rush? Where are you all headed?"
Zhang Baofeng also sensed something was off. How did the people around him suddenly disappear? Turning his head, he heard Lan Ruo Yi ask the same question, and he realized something was wrong. He quickly moved closer to them.
"We're off work. Aren't you leaving?"
Juan nodded in agreement, her gaze reproachfully directed at the two of them, as if they had committed some unforgivable offense.
Liu Ru Yan and Lan Ruo Yi were taken aback. "Oh, you're in a hurry to get off work?"
"What else would it be? Why would we stay if we're not working?" Juan retorted, seemingly puzzled by their question.
"Come on, let's go! If you're not eager to leave work, there's something wrong with your mindset," Zhang Baofeng said as he pulled Juan along.
The two felt that something was amiss but couldn't quite put their finger on it.
