Tang Mu Xuan led Lin Fengmian to see Liu Er and the couple they had brought back. Lin Fengmian immediately recognized them as the individuals previously brought back by Wang Yang. They even had photographs as evidence.
"What should we do now? Should we take them back?" Lin Fengmian asked, glancing at Tang Mu Xuan as they stood in the corridor, not far from Liu Da and the others.
Tang Mu Xuan felt a bit anxious, unsure whether he should intervene. Although they had already contacted the old man, everything still felt uncertain. He decided to stay for the time being; he would inform Mr. Liu later that they would remain here for now.
"I think so too," Lin Fengmian agreed, believing that it was unsafe for the couple to be with them. Their movements were quite restricted, making it safer for them to stay together.
At that moment, both of them forgot that Liu Ru Yan's condition didn’t seem so serious and that she wouldn’t be staying in the hospital for long.
As Tang Mu Xuan pondered this, he reached into his pocket for a cigarette but then remembered he was in a hospital and withdrew his hand. Just then, Lin Fengmian's phone rang. They usually only turned on their ringtones during missions to avoid missing any notifications.
Tang Mu Xuan looked at Lin Fengmian with a questioning gaze as Lin Fengmian slowly took out his phone to answer it. The voice on the other end urged, "Come back quickly; we have a mission."
Lin Fengmian quickly hung up and said to Tang Mu Xuan, "Let’s go, we have a mission."
"What kind of mission could there be at this time?" Tang Mu Xuan replied lazily, his demeanor contrasting sharply with his handsome appearance.
"Let’s hurry; they sound urgent," Lin Fengmian urged as he pushed Tang Mu Xuan to say goodbye to the others. The two made their way to the hospital entrance, contemplating how they would return.
Just then, Tang Mu Xuan's phone rang again; it was a call from Chen Team. "Hello, Chen Team," he answered.
As Chen Team spoke, Tang Mu Xuan's previously relaxed posture gradually straightened, and the playful expression on his face vanished, replaced by seriousness.
Lin Fengmian wondered what was being said. Was this mission particularly tricky? Normally, no matter how difficult a task was, Tang Mu Xuan wouldn’t react this way.
After hanging up the phone, Tang Mu Xuan turned to Lin Fengmian and said, "Someone reported illegal detention and provided evidence."
After he finished speaking, Lin Fengmian appeared somewhat dazed and asked in confusion, "What does this have to do with us?"
"You won't guess who called the police!" Lin Fengmian's mind began to race, and a sudden realization struck him: "Could it be related to Wang Yang?"
Tang Mu Xuan was taken aback. "How did you know?"
Lin Fengmian smiled. "You only show any expression when it comes to Wang Yang."
The two of them hailed a taxi and headed straight for Wan Zheng Hu Tong.
Tian Luo led Li Meng towards Wang Yang's office, and the two remained silent along the way, aware that someone was following them. Despite Tian Luo being a trusted confidant of Jiang Nan, Wang Yang did not fully trust him.
Tian Luo brought Li Meng into what appeared to be an ordinary residential courtyard. Li Meng was surprised to discover that there was more than met the eye inside. It seemed this place was not as simple as it looked, and there were unexpected gains to be had.
Wang Yang sat in the courtyard basking in the sun, holding a glass of red wine as he gazed at the surroundings. When he saw Tian Luo approaching with Li Meng, he laughed heartily, "Haha, little brother, you didn't disappoint me."
Tian Luo did not respond but merely smiled and nodded. Wang Yang didn't mind; Qin Peng stood beside him as well.
Li Meng? Jiang Nan was actually so wary of a young girl? He truly found it hard to believe!
Wang Yang recognized Li Meng; he had seen her in the office before during that incident involving Liu Ru Yan and Lan Ruo Yi.
Upon seeing Wang Yang, Li Meng felt somewhat uncomfortable.
"Ah, it's been a while, Wang Zong," she greeted him expressionlessly.
"Li Meng, we had such a good conversation before. Why are you acting like this? If Jiang Zong sent you, you can come find me anytime; I welcome you at any moment," Wang Yang said sincerely. He greatly admired Li Meng as a rare talent and wanted to recruit her.
Li Meng scoffed coldly, "What I want, you can't provide."
Wang Yang's expression darkened. "There is nothing in this world that I, Wang Yang, cannot provide."
Li Meng chose not to respond further, feeling that continuing the conversation was pointless. Just as Wang Yang was about to say something else, the sound of police sirens echoed from outside;
Wang Yang and Qin Peng's expressions changed as they looked at Tian Luo. "What’s going on? You didn’t realize you were being followed?"
Tian Luo said helplessly, "Wang Zong, your subordinates have been following me; you should be more aware of that." It was precisely because he was aware that Wang Yang's expression grew even darker.
Before any action could be taken, a knock sounded at the door. Wang Yang shot a glance at Qin Peng, who understood immediately and opened the door.
Tian Luo exchanged a look with Li Meng, who recognized this as an opportunity.
Tang Mu Xuan and the Chen Team had successfully regrouped and stood quietly at the entrance of the courtyard, waiting for the knock to confirm they were at the right place. They had received intel that their target had entered this courtyard.
As Qin Peng opened the door, Tang Mu Xuan and his team filed in one after another. Qin Peng stood frozen at the doorway, surprised by such rudeness. This was not their usual style. "What are you doing? Is barging into someone else's home without permission something the police should do?" he said angrily.
Tang Mu Xuan chuckled lightly, "Sorry, we were concerned about the safety of the hostage."
Qin Peng was left bewildered. "???"
