What happened this morning? Liu Ru Yan and Lan Ruo Yi were unaware, their gloomy feelings hanging over them like a dark cloud.
"Good morning, everyone!" Jiang Nan greeted the group with enthusiasm, and they all understood the sentiment.
"Very much so! Being with the team is even better!" Jiang Nan raised his hand in satisfaction. "Once everyone finishes their work, let's have a meeting for about half an hour. Is that okay with you?"
"No problem," came the reply.
Satisfied with the answer, Jiang Nan left for Li Meng's previous office.
"Who was here this morning? This sounds like a sales pitch. Is it for real?" Liu Ru Yan rolled her eyes in annoyance, mentally venting to Lan Ruo Yi.
"It's morning, isn't it obvious? It can't possibly be us," Lan Ruo Yi agreed with Liu Ru Yan's viewpoint.
Just getting up early without complaints was already a huge respect for the job, and now they wanted to talk about how great it was to be part of a team?
Who came up with this slogan? "Being with colleagues is better"? What nonsense! Only the boss would believe such things.
After all, only leaders enjoy working; they are pampered by others.
They were different, enduring hardships while serving those above them. As long as they worked hard enough, the boss would drive a luxury car.
No more complaints; just do what needs to be done each day, work hard, and let loose when necessary.
When Lan Ruo Yi said this, she wore a smile as if she had already accepted the situation.
If anyone claimed they were unambitious, Liu Ru Yan would definitely have something to say.
Being unambitious is fine; just being alive is impressive enough.
Another meeting? Do we really have that many meetings every day? Zhang Baofeng voiced what everyone was thinking.
Bai Juan shrugged and replied, "I don’t know; I usually find no need to attend."
"That's exactly how I feel," Liu Ru Yan agreed emphatically. "It couldn't be more true."
"Could someone at least ask what the meeting is about? I could use a little psychological preparation," Ming Zhu added, feeling a bit uneasy.
"Usually, we just have meetings every day without any fuss. Why is this one so different?" Tian Luo pondered aloud, sharing in the collective discomfort.
"Maybe we’ve been working too hard?" he mused, a hint of resignation in his voice.
"I'm already tired of communicating," he continued. "He said there would be sunshine tonight, and I accepted it. Yet, he still seems unsatisfied."
Lan Ruo Yi glanced sharply at the person who had just spoken, incredulous at their lack of contentment. The group's attention was drawn to her sudden reaction.
"When did you arrive?" Ming Zhu asked, surprised that this person had come out so quickly.
"Oh, wait. No, he’s fine; he wasn’t locked up after all," Tian Luo clarified with innocent eyes, looking at the row of people before him.
As the others were still puzzled, he added, "You all don’t even see me in your eyes. I know—I just feel unloved."
"What on earth?" Zhang Baofeng exclaimed in shock. "Has he been possessed by something?"
His tone was sarcastic; after all, who finds love at work? It seemed like he had taken something wrong again.
"Are you okay? You’ve been on leave for a few days," Chen Chao asked with concern as she looked at Tian Luo. Ever since he showed up, her gaze had been fixed solely on him.
"Oh, it’s nothing really. Just a bit tired and needed some rest," Tian Luo replied nonchalantly, avoiding eye contact with Chen Chao.
"It’s nothing; really nothing. Let’s get back to work. Who knows how long this meeting will last?" Bai Juan interjected, sensing the increasingly awkward atmosphere.
Zhang Baofeng hadn’t expected that despite Bai Juan's lack of insight into gossip, she could still sense when something felt off—an improvement for sure.
After Tian Luo sat down and exchanged a brief smile with Liu Ru Yan and Lan Ruo Yi, both women returned the gesture with friendly smiles of their own.
"This is unsettling; it’s too scary," Liu Ru Yan said quickly as she turned to Lan Ruo Yi with a distressed expression.
"I agree," Lan Ruo Yi nodded in agreement.
At that moment, Mo Wan was busy handling family matters with Tu Nan. Word had spread at home that he and Lan Ruo Yi were together now.
The calls started coming in again, and it was just the same old routine.
"Hello, Mom!" Mo Wan's voice carried a hint of helplessness.
His brow was already furrowed, a noticeable red spot appearing on his otherwise pale forehead.
"Xiao Wan, I heard you’re with Yi Yi now. How is she doing? Is she still upset?"
Mo Wan's mother, Liu Ru Yan, was still preoccupied with the events of the past.
She spoke cautiously; after all, her precious son had just been scolded, and it left her feeling uneasy.
So she pushed Xie Yichang away, and when others wanted to say something to her, they hesitated upon seeing her demeanor.
They could only secretly support Lan Ruo Yi from the shadows, afraid of being discovered.
But things were different now. Yi Yi had been found by her son and was still by his side; Liu Ru Yan felt less need to tread lightly.
Yi Yi was quite fond of her mother, and Cheng had met Yi Yi as well. It seemed that Yi Yi didn’t mind at all; in fact, she appeared quite happy.
