"Do you really think that money is more important than your son's happiness?" I looked at him coldly. "Le An, I respect you and wish you well. I hope you lock yourselves away and stop harming others."
My son was momentarily stunned before he shouted, "Mom, are you really my mother? How can you say such heartless things? In front of money, you don't even care about your own son?"
mother Lin gestured for Lin Jiao to leave, and Lin Jiao took Le An's hand as they walked out of the restaurant. My sister, who had come with me, wanted to intervene but I stopped her. "Let him go. He will regret it."
My sister was confused. "You're really just letting him walk away? That woman is clearly after our family's money. He doesn't care about the hardships you've endured raising him alone and insists on being with her. How can our family have such a fool?"
I smiled and patted her hand. "Don't be angry. Le An has been spoiled since childhood and can't handle hardship. With mother Lin's sharp tongue, he won't last two days before he comes crying back. He will grow up."
My sister was so furious she couldn't eat, but I ordered two servings of food for us. In my past life, I devoted myself to him but ended up with nothing. Heaven had given me a second chance, and I wouldn't be soft-hearted again.
If he wants to be infatuated with love, I won't interfere; as long as he doesn't come back to harm us.
After Lin Jiao and her son left the hotel, she began brainwashing Le An. "Le An, you're your mother's only child. Your family is so wealthy; how could she possibly abandon you? As long as you live well with me, your mom will eventually accept me."
Unfortunately, the the Lin Family's plan was about to fall apart.
Soon enough, my son's post appeared on social media.
"Hand in hand, we will grow old together; we will definitely be very happy in the future. No one can stop us from being together!"
Below the caption was a photo of him and Lin Jiao's marriage certificate. His friends were all congratulating him:
"Wow, how romantic! Wishing you happiness."
"Wishing you 99 years."
"Congratulations! A couple finally becomes a family."
Not one of his friends reminded him that she was after his money.
My sister was furious. "This child is driving me crazy! How could he go behind our backs and get married?"
I remained unusually calm. "Sister, Le An has grown up; let him go!"
My sister stared at me wide-eyed. "But he's your biological son! Aren't you going to care for him? Is there really a mother as heartless as you?"
Ever since Le An's father passed away, my sister had been helping me raise him. She treated him as if he were her own child. Seeing the shock and pain on her face, I could only weakly comfort her.
She held onto me, crying bitterly, cursing the the Lin Family for their greed and calling my son a blind, ungrateful wolf.
I patted her back to soothe her. "Calm down. Since he’s already married, we should wish him well! From now on, it’ll just be the two of us."
"He's an adult now; he made his own choice. I can only offer my opinion at most. Don't be upset; let's go travel instead!"
With that, I took out my phone to book tickets.
My sister looked at me in disbelief. "Sister, Le An is your own son! Are you really going to ignore him?"
I patted her hand and said, "Since he doesn’t want to listen to advice, I’ll just pretend I don’t have a son and cut ties completely!"
As I spoke, I took a screenshot of the ticket booking page and posted it on social media.
