"What is it?"
"First, we need some sulfur, some iron scraps, and it would be best to add a bit of... salt." I began listing a series of materials.
Although Alan looked a bit puzzled, he still gathered everything I requested.
"And then? What are you going to do?" Alan asked, watching me toss the sulfur, iron scraps, and salt into a wooden barrel with a confused expression.
I smiled mysteriously and pulled out a long glass tube from my pocket, filled with a clear liquid.
"What is this?" Alan asked curiously.
"This is a magical potion I've developed that can temporarily paralyze those underground creatures," I fabricated a reason casually.
In reality, it was some anesthetic I had left over from my experiments in the modern world, and I never expected it would come in handy now.
I poured the anesthetic into the wooden barrel and then lifted it up, shouting towards the well, "Come forth! Creatures of the underground! Today, I shall act on behalf of justice!"
My voice was loud enough to startle the townsfolk around us.
"What is she doing?" one villager whispered.
"I don't know. Could she really solve the well's problem?" another villager replied.
Under the watchful eyes of the crowd, I poured the mixture from the wooden barrel into the well.
After a moment, the well indeed began to gurgle, and then a massive, tentacled Worm crawled out.
“Oh my God!” The townsfolk around me screamed in terror.
Ellen tightened her grip on her sword, ready to fight.
However, the Worm suddenly stopped, its body began to convulse, and then with a loud thud, it collapsed to the ground.
“What... what just happened?” Ellen asked in surprise.
“The anesthetic took effect,” I said proudly. “I told you, this little creature is hardly a threat.”
Seeing the Worm subdued, the townspeople looked at me with newfound respect and began to express their gratitude.
“Lady Alice, you are truly amazing!”
“Yes, you are our savior!”
“Thank you for solving the problem in our town!”
I reveled in their praise, my heart swelling with pride.
"Alright, stop praising me," I said modestly. "I just did what I was supposed to do."
After that incident, my status in the town noticeably improved. The townsfolk no longer felt fear towards me; instead, they were filled with awe and gratitude.
Of course, all of this was thanks to my modern knowledge and a bit of restored magic.
"Next, what I need to do is to restore my magic as quickly as possible and gather some Magic Gems!" I thought to myself.
That evening, I began to "deceive" Allen. "Allen, I can feel my magic returning, but I need some special Magic Materials to assist with the process," I said with a serious expression.
"What Magic Materials?" Allen asked.
"First, I need some pure Magic Gems, preferably those that contain powerful energy, along with some books that record Magic Spells," I started listing the materials I needed.
"These things... are not cheap," Allen said with a frown.
"I know, but in order to restore my power, I must obtain them," I replied with a look of grievance. "Don't you want to see me regain my strength and protect this world once again?"
After hearing my words, Allen's gaze wavered slightly.
