Sometimes, when a person's will to survive is strong enough, they can truly create miracles!
Take me for example. I boldly walked into the Underworld, and to my surprise, within less than a month, I was able to walk out in broad daylight.
That day, I was “taking a bath” in a boiling pot of oil (which in the Underworld was no enjoyment at all, but sheer torment), when a little servant swaggered in.
He looked thoroughly impatient as he grabbed my hair and shouted, “Bird Giant, the King of Hell is looking for you!”
I, the unfortunate soul he referred to as “Bird Giant,” straightened my back and jumped out of the oil pot with a sudden burst.
I stretched my long-restrained body, yawned lazily, and wiggled my backside.
Believe it or not, the oil pot was quite large, capable of holding over twenty people. However, ever since I arrived, it had become my personal “exclusive bathhouse.” Even so, I could barely stretch my arms and legs inside; it was incredibly stifling.
With a surprisingly agile stride (even though I was still shackled and my movements were somewhat restricted), I stepped out of the Underworld.
I thought to myself that if I could just get these chains off, I would be able to run like the wind.
Once outside the Underworld, the Heavenly Soldier unceremoniously bound me again with iron chains atop Dongshan Mountain, securing me tightly so that I couldn’t move.
Yet for some reason, I felt inexplicably happy and playfully tossed a flirtatious glance at the Heavenly Soldier. Hmph! I’m reborn! I have every reason to celebrate!
But I really must thank that little rascal Hou Yi! Thankfully, I didn’t listen to them and go kill him!
After Hou Yi shot down my nine sisters, the heavenly beings feared that their only son—the Sun God—might also be killed. So they had no choice but to bring me out as a substitute.
Haha… I joyfully spread sunlight evenly across the ground.
Miraculously, tender green crops began to sprout from the earth. The moisture left from previous rains evaporated under the sun's rays and gradually gathered again, forming rivers and lakes.
The common people were joyfully toiling in the fields, and life seemed to have regained its hope. Some even went so far as to build a temple for me, to express their gratitude for the sunlight I bestowed upon them.
As I looked at the joyous scene below—lush green crops and the azure sea—I felt an immense happiness swell within me!
Yet amidst this joy, I couldn't help but think of my parents, who were still in the Twenty-First Century.
Mom and Dad, do you believe it? Your daughter is now, in fact, the sun!
Though we are separated by great distances, I can still accompany you day and night, always with you! I gazed proudly toward the west, silently praying in my heart.
Now, the only thing that weighed heavily on my mind was Kua Fu!
Just as I was lost in my thoughts, I suddenly spotted a figure moving slowly from the southwest direction!
His pace wasn't fast, but each step was taken with determination, never faltering.
Could it be… Kua Fu?
My soul trembled at the thought, and suddenly a lesson from elementary school came rushing back to me.
In that lesson, there was indeed a fool named Kua Fu who relentlessly chased after the sun until he finally collapsed from exhaustion and died.
I strained my eyes toward the southwest; his figure was slowly bounding in the distance. From afar, he resembled a prince riding a white horse, moving steadily in rhythm with its gallop.
It’s him! It must be him!
That big fool! Is he really going to die again?
I was frantic, shouting with all my might to stop him, but my throat felt as if something was blocking it, rendering me voiceless.
It suddenly dawned on me that in the realm of Purgatory, my body had suffered little damage thanks to the protection of the Scorching Pearl.
However, my throat had been pierced by a blade, and since then, I had been unable to make a sound.
I screamed like a madman; even though I could only produce faint, discordant noises, I still desperately shouted while pulling at the iron chains binding me.
The ends of the chains were tightly secured at the foot of Dongshan Mountain, while the middle section was deeply embedded in my flesh, piercing through both of my collarbones.
The excruciating pain shot through my collarbones directly into my brain, making me wish for death.
"Go away..." I thought. "I will always be in the East, and you will always stand in the Southwest. We could have gazed at each other from afar and loved each other."
Why must you stubbornly walk down a path of no return? I screamed in my heart, even though I knew he couldn’t hear me at all.
Tears streamed uncontrollably down my cheeks, but under the scorching sun, they evaporated instantly, leaving no trace behind.
Despair filled me as I watched my beloved approach step by step; at that moment, I couldn't feel any joy.
Kua Fu finally could not hold on any longer and collapsed onto Taihang Mountain.
As his body was about to crash heavily to the ground, he somehow managed to prop himself up with his frail arms and stubbornly crawled back up.
I watched him; his movements were so clumsy yet so determined as he pushed forward.
From my elevated position, he resembled a struggling toad crawling along, but I found no ugliness in him—only heartache filled my eyes.
I cried out loud, tears streaming down my face, until my throat felt like it was on fire and I could no longer make a sound.
The places where Kua Fu had passed left behind two vivid trails of blood, which shone brighter than my own light in the sun, searing my heart with their intensity.
I transitioned from silent tears to a full-blown wail, and soon everything before me blurred. My tears flowed endlessly, evaporating quickly yet never seeming to run dry.
Through the mist created by my tears, I saw Kua Fu finally stop before me, no longer moving.
His face was clearly turned in my direction, adorned with a smile of reassurance. That smile was even more radiant than the last one I had seen by immortal pool, yet it pierced my heart even deeper.
I shook my body frantically, trying to break free from the iron chains binding me. The ground beneath me began to tremble violently; the entire Eastern Mountain shook with my struggle until it was uprooted from the earth.
With the chains still clinging to me, I took one difficult step after another toward Kua Fu. The Eastern Mountain swayed at the end of the chains, mirroring the frantic beating of my heart.
I struggled and finally reached Kua Fu.
Then, with a sharp crack, both of my collarbones broke simultaneously. A wave of excruciating pain surged through me, nearly causing me to lose consciousness.
The entire Eastern Mountain fell alongside my shattered collarbones, plummeting toward the ground.
The metallic scent of blood slowly spread through my mind as my brain began to numb. I could only hear the deafening "boom" as the Eastern Mountain hit the ground, followed by my own body collapsing helplessly downwards.
