During the summer of my junior year, I accompanied my mother to the mall to buy clothes. As we strolled past the LV counter, my mother casually picked up a classic handbag. Just as she was about to ask me how it looked, a sales associate approached us with a cold tone, saying, "This bag costs over fifty thousand. Are you sure you want to buy it? Don’t try it on; it’s hard to clean if you get it dirty."
My mother paused for a moment, a hint of embarrassment flashing across her face. While we weren't top-tier wealthy, we could certainly afford a handbag. Standing beside her, I felt a surge of anger.
The sales associate was quite beautiful—she had an oval face, large eyes, and an aloof demeanor that resembled a popular celebrity. However, her attitude was infuriating. I stepped forward and asked coldly, "Where's your manager? Bring them out."
She raised an eyebrow, her tone still indifferent. "I am the manager."
I scoffed, "This is how the manager behaves? What do you mean we can't afford it? Hand me the bag; I want to try it on."
She remained unfazed and replied flatly, "This bag is already reserved for another customer; I can’t sell it to you."
The atmosphere became tense as my mother and I were left speechless with frustration. She turned away to attend to other customers as if we didn’t exist.
Just as I was about to explode, my mother grabbed my arm and softly said, "Let it go; don’t argue with her. Let’s leave."
My mother had always been gentle and never argued with anyone. But the anger inside me wouldn’t subside. I shot one last glare at the sales associate and followed my mother out of the counter.
