The sky was overcast.
Dark clouds hung low, as if they were about to swallow the entire city.
Distant thunder rolled ominously, heralding an impending storm.
Lu Qing stood before the floor-to-ceiling window, her slender figure outlined by the dim light, creating a cold silhouette.
Her gaze was indifferent as she looked down at the crowd below, which seemed no larger than ants, her heart a void of silence.
Suddenly, the shrill ring of her phone shattered the stillness of the room.
The caller ID displayed "Mother."
A flicker of disdain crossed Lu Qing's eyes as her fingertips lightly tapped on the table. Yet, she ultimately answered the call.
"Hello?"
Her voice was icy, devoid of any emotion.
