Book Synopsis
I stood in front of the floor-length mirror in the old house, gazing at my reflection. The frame was intricately carved with twisting vines and flowers, yet the surface of the mirror was remarkably clear, revealing every pore on my face in sharp detail.
Suddenly, the reflection of me blinked.
I stumbled back a step, my back hitting the wall. The figure in the mirror remained still, a strange smile slowly curling at the corners of its mouth. That was not me; it was definitely not me. I had never worn such an expression—cold, mocking, with an indescribable hint of malice.
"Finally, we meet," the figure spoke, its voice identical to mine but laced with an icy chill. "I've waited a long time for this day."
I turned to flee, but found my feet rooted to the ground as if they had grown into the floor. The figure reached out a hand, its pale fingers penetrating the mirror's surface like they were passing through a layer of water. A wave of cold crept up my spine, and it felt as though all the blood in my body had frozen.
"Don't be afraid," it said. "I just want to play a game with you." Its finger gently tapped my forehead, and a piercing chill instantly spread throughout my body. "From today on, we will take turns using this body. You have it during the day; I take over at night."
